Greater Whitsunday Alliance Limited (GW3) is the peak independent regional economic development body for the Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday region. GW3 is seeking an experienced Agribusiness Specialist to connect with Greater Whitsunday grower communities to engage and involve them in GW3’s Agribusiness Futures Alliance strategies and initiatives.  

Remuneration: $80,000 - $84,999

Job Description: This role has a strong engagement and communication focus and the Specialist will be connecting and networking with growers and stakeholders across the region and building capability across a range of shared opportunities including: technology adoption; value adding; maximising waste streams and other advocacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and refine the activities contained in the Agribusiness Futures Alliance project plan;

  • Conduct face-to-face visits with growers and food manufacturers;

  • Organise and conduct webinars, events, workshops and activities to engage and involve growers and stakeholders in the region;

  • Developing and maintaining a project portal to improve collaboration, information accessibility and de-risk strategic decision-making processes for producers;

  • Collect feedback from growers on their understanding and perspective around policies, regulations and ongoing challenges that they face;

  • Preparation of reports and financial acquittals;

  • Assist the Communications Officer in activities relating to communications and media.

Key Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to engage widely, prepare reports and make presentations.

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines and targets.

  • Excellent organisational skills and some ability to manage small events and workshops.

  • Manage project budgets.

  • Ability to undertake research, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Experience with Office Suite 365.

  • An understanding and interest in the agriculture sector.

Your Qualifications and Licences:

Degree qualification in agriculture, business, or economics discipline (or equivalent industry experience) would be an advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Regular travel both within and outside of the region.

  • Drivers licence and own vehicle.

  • Working flexible hours to meet peak work demands.

  • Personal characteristics of honesty, integrity, commitment, reliability and adaptability.
