About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a versatile Farm Hand to join our team at our Hill River Backgrounding Property.

Hill River is a mixed farming / cattle operation located 12km East of Jurien Bay with a focus on animal welfare and sustainability. The role will facilitate our current cattle and pasture operations involving various aspects of the day-to-day farm operation including animal husbandry, machinery operation, feeding of livestock and regulatory record keeping.


Key Responsibilities of the role are (but not limited to):

  • Always demonstrate commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare

  • Assist with all day-to-day livestock activities utilizing best practice low stress stock handling.

  • Assist with all day-to-day pasture activities utilizing modern broad acre pasture equipment.

  • Record and communicate necessary livestock and pasture data in an accurate and legible manner.

  • Work closely with the management team to ensure all requirements are met, keeping the big picture in mind.

This role would suit someone who is hands on, has attention to detail and takes pride in their work. This role will also suit someone who is ambitious and move into a lead role as our operations grow.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong focus on safety and animal welfare

  • Cattle handling or broad acre machinery experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording data

  • Base Mechanical knowledge

  • Initiative and Problem-solving skills

  • Pass a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessment.

  • Possess sufficient fitness level to carry out required tasks.

  • Current driver’s license, truck license will be highly regarded.

Desired criteria:

  • Experience with handling livestock

  • Supervisory experience
