Rosehill is a family owned and operated farm located 30km south east of Walgett on the Pilliga/ Come-By-Chance Road in the far north west region of NSW. The property is 7,500 acres with a large broad acre cropping operation (wheat, chickpeas, barley and this year will also grow Canola) as well as running Santa Gertrudis cattle.
A permanent position is now available as a broad acre & cattle farm hand.
Applicants must possess positive attitude, strong work ethic, physically fit, be honest, reliable and willing to learn new skills.
JOB TYPE: Permanent (3 month probationary period)

5 days a week (unless planting/harvest etc)
REMUNERATION: Above award wages, negotiable depending on experience.
START DATE: Immediately
JOB DESCRIPTION: The position involves operating and maintaining large modern broad acre farming machinery, cattle work and general farm duties.

Broad acre farming including spraying, planting, harvest, moving grain, driving trucks on-farm as well as seed cleaning – with our own grader/cleaner

Spray Rig operator experience preferred but training is available.

Broad acre farming with a Cat/tracked tractor and a 60’ Boss Rig on GPS and tramline – so experience with farming and machinery maintenance is essential.

Rosehill also run Santa Gertrudis cattle, crossing with Red Angus Bulls – so work with cattle is required i.e. Currently running over 400 cows and most are in calf – due to start calving from March 21 on – up to Sept 21. The calves have Management tags and NLIS tags and all stock, calves bought-in, are branded.

Mustering cattle, needling and backlining and marking. The owners follow a 6 month procedure of backlining and every 12 months cattle/calves are needled. The calves have Management tags and NLIS tags and all stock, calves bought-in, are branded.

There is also a property in the Coonamble area, 80kms from Rosehill and adjoining Merndah property where farming/ cattle work would be required as needed.

Farming equipment is moved between the 3 properties for any work needing to be done, i.e. spraying and sowing/planting.

Fencing and repairs and repairs and maintenance on all plant and machinery.

When owners are away you will be required to attend to dogs, cats, chooks, guinea fowl and geese, plus garden, at home.
REQUIREMENTS:

A keen interest in broad acre farming and livestock (cattle) handling.

You will also need a current driver's licence and preferred experience in operating farm machinery.

A current HC Truck licence is not essential but would be favourably considered as moving grain between Walgett and Coonamble property is required.

From time to time you may be required to work outside normal working hours (Harvest etc).

You will be expected to complete your work in a safe manner.

Must be honest, reliable and take instruction from owners and work colleague(s).

To take responsibility for tasks which require you to work independently or within a team.

Extra staff is put on for planting and harvest.
