Job Description: Are you an enthusiastic professional who enjoys working as part of a team? A position for an Operations Manager now exists at this well-established, family owned, modern, 13,000 SCU capacity feedlot located at Condamine on the Western Darling Downs. This role is hands-on managing staff and daily feedlot operations working with the livestock, feeding and milling departments, contractors and maintenance teams. The position will suit a person who takes ownership and accountability in decision making and who can provide assistance to the General Manager in operating a profitable feedlot.

Essential requirements:

  •     Capacity to interact with other operational areas in a consultative manner and the ability to lead by example

  •     Strong time management, communication and problem-solving skills and to follow and enforce all OHS and environmental requirements

  •     Animal awareness and continual improvement on animal welfare and to demonstrate contemporary animal husbandry techniques

  •     Knowledge of machinery operation and maintenance and have an understanding of grain handling equipment

  •     Ability to communicate and influence all levels of management and workforce in addition to demonstrate development, and management of high performing teams

  •     Proficient in the use of industry standard management and record keeping systems such as Feedlot 3000, Weighbridge and Stockaid software

  •     Ability to work in a Quality Assured focused workplace and possess an understanding of current WH&S industry requirements

Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  •     Supervise day to day stock work activities including pen riding

  •     Staff inductions

  •     Utilise data tracking and analysis tools to supervise accurate identification and management of livestock

  •     Undertake arrivals, inductions, drafts, health monitoring and dispatches including all required paperwork

  •     Check and maintain stock facilities for safe cattle movements

  •     Animal health management including treatments, acclamation

  •     Manage cattle performance within set targets

  •     Inventory control and stocktaking of all livestock products; and

  •     Overseeing, guiding and training of livestock staff in accordance with relevant OH&S, animal welfare and quality assurance requirements

  •     Be able to work a 5-2 roster inclusive of weekends when required

The successful applicant would ideally have prior experience in feedlot management and supply their own horses and tack. A salary package is offered based on the skill and qualification level of the successful applicant.​
