About the job:
Harvest Road has recently acquired a premium 5,100ha grazing property 12kms east of Jurien Bay at Hill River. Hill River is a mixed farming / cattle operation with a focus on animal welfare and sustainability. We are currently seeking an experienced Head Stockperson to join the team. This exciting new opportunity will be responsible for assisting the Farm Manager in the implementation and daily management of all cattle operations on the property.
The role will require daily attendance at Hill River and accommodation can be offered to the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Assist in the welfare management of all livestock according to the Code of Practice.
Day to day cattle operations, including but not limited to: Daily checks of animals, movement of cattle using low stress stock handling techniques, drafting, processing, inductions, loading of trucks etc.
Daily monitoring of all livestock water points, and maintenance as required.
General fencing and machinery operation as required by farm management.
Record management of all livestock activities as required by relevant QA programs and company policies.
You will be an experienced Stockperson, who is self-motivated and has the following experience:
Experience working with cattle, including moving, drafting, processing and various other tasks associated with livestock husbandry.
Low Stress Stock Handling experience.
Applicants with horse experience highly desirable, but not essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preference and skill for working collaboratively in team environments.
Some fencing and machinery experience preferred but not essential.
