The Opportunity: Harvest Road has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Head Stockperson to join our tight-knit, hard-working team at Jubilee Downs Station (near Fitzroy Crossing), with an anticipated start date of March 2022.  Reporting to the Station Manager, this role plays a key part in facilitating and leading livestock activities across the station and general station duties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Always demonstrate commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare

  • Lead a stock camp of 5-8 members, guiding them through horse and cattle husbandry practises, fencing, machinery operation, and general station maintenance 

  • Record and communicate necessary livestock data in an accurate and legible manner

  • Lead by example both in and out of the workplace 

  • Work closely with the management team to ensure all requirements are met, keeping the big picture in mind.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong focus on safety and animal welfare

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Proficient in handling both horses and bikes

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording data

  • Base mechanical knowledge

  • Initiative and problem-solving skills

  • Motivated and hard-working, willing to be part of the small team. 

  • Current driver’s license; truck license highly regarded

  • Pass a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessment

  • Possess sufficient fitness level to carry out required tasks 

Desired:

  • HC or MC license
