This is a unique position with Airspace Fuel | Remote Aviation Fuel as a helicopter driver/ refueller during the bushfire season in WA, NSW and ACT.
Drivers/ Refueller’s are essentially part of a fire fighting crew so you are on call much of the time. The position is essentially a stand-by job, so you don’t actually work unless you are needed.
Start Date: October 2021 to early April 2022
Locations: Sydney, Perth and Canberra | 3 positions to be filled.
Remuneration: Up to $400/day
NOTE: Airspace Fuel is waiting on government requirements (to cross borders) but candidates may have to be fully vaccinated.
Job Description: Candidates will be required to drive to locations to fuel rotary wing aircraft for work fighting bushfires. You will be required to be on stand-by for 100 days starting about late October 2021 to early April 2022 (much of that time is 'on call' - see below).
Drivers MUST have:
HC Semi Licence
Dangerous Good’s Licence
18 Speed RoadRanger Experience
Comfortable driving a semi in traffic (This is highly unlikely to happen but better to have the skill)
Candidates will be required to keep very accurate paper records
This is a customer service role, candidates MUST BE HAPPY AND APPROACHABLE!
Share (crew) house supplied
Company car (if you would like to use your own car fuel will be supplied)
All work related expenses reimbursed (flights, training, travel, PPE)
Contract is for 100 days straight however time off can be arranged with notice. 100 days seems like a long time without time off but candidates must remember that 80% of days are spent on “stand-by”, watching TV/movies etc.
All other training will be on the job.
For the right candidate there is a full time role, on call with a guaranteed 12 weeks holiday, available for $60,000 per year.
