Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Terrick Terrick Station, the Caretaker Couple will reside on Mount Harden and be responsible for managing and maintaining Mount Harden while working with a team to carry out all sheep and cattle activities.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of station hands to carry out all day-to-day station activities in a safe and efficient manner and following all site safety rules and strict animal welfare standards.
Mustering of sheep and cattle on two wheel motorbikes.
Lamb marking, weaning and drafting sheep.
Drafting, branding and weaning cattle.
Monitor welfare of all livestock ensuring humane handling of livestock at all times.
Identify and report all hazards, incidents and injuries to the Station Manager.
Plan and communicate daily work requirements to a team of station hands.
Maintain all station infrastructure including water points, fencing, yards, vehicles, machinery, saddlery, tools and equipment.
Provide and maintain accurate records and reports on livestock data.
Communicate to manager on all livestock welfare, handling or mustering issues.
Job Requirements:
A current manual driver's license.
Ability to work alone and unsupervised.
Ability to follow work health and safety procedures and animal welfare standards.
Experience with low stress stock handling skills.
Mechanically minded and experience safely operating and maintaining farm machinery.
Experience maintaining station infrastructure including buildings, water points, fences and yards. Basic welding and fabrication skills.
