Job Description:

Reporting to the Station Manager, the Head Stockman is responsible for supporting the Station Manager with the daily operations and leading and managing the stock camp.

The role is located on 306,000 hectares of private land in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, bordering Western Australia and the picturesque Kimberley Region. The Station runs 35,000 head of high-grade Brahman cattle with approximately 20 staff located at the Station.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading, training and developing a team of station hands.

  • Following health and safety procedures, identifying hazards and assessing and managing risk, ensuring safe and effective daily operations and low stress handling of livestock.

  • Livestock handling including, mustering, trucking, branding, and weaner management.

  • Providing and maintaining accurate livestock records and reports.

  • Other general station duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and in leading and managing people.

  • Low stress livestock handling experience and a commitment to animal welfare.

  • Must have excellent horsemanship skills and a current manual driver’s licence.

  • Experience using computer systems to record livestock data.

  • First aid certificate, firearm licence, HR licence, welding/steel fabrication experience highly regarded.
