Job Description:
Due to an internal promotion, ACC’s largest breeding property, Barkly Downs (near Mount Isa) has an exciting opportunity for an existing ACC Head Stockperson or Leading Hand to join the team and take the next step in your career.
Barkly Downs is currently running over 42000 head of bulls, cows and calves across 2.3 million acres.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
As part of Barkly’s leadership team, you’ll join a total crew of 26 and working alongside another Head Stockperson, you’ll lead one of the stock crews with 6-7 team members.
You will be responsible for managing the team in safely and effectively undertaking all aspects of livestock handling, monitoring and processing, including accurate and timely data capture and reporting.
You’ll thrive learning how to effectively plan and manage the utilistation of your own camp assets and equipment including vehicles, truck, motorbikes and horses.
Job Requirements:
Having high personal standards, attention to detail, you’ll have demonstrated success at leading, coaching and mentoring a stock crew, the successful candidate will bring:
Advanced horsemanship skill and ability
Extensive knowledge and experience in livestock handling
Genuine passion for coaching others and sharing your knowledge and experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of workplace health & safety, hazards & risks
Solid judgement & problem solving
Attention to detail
Sound computer literacy
Commitment to best practice animal husbandry handling practices, always ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.
