Job Description:

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager – Farming, you’ll work autonomously to ensure the day-to-day farming activities across 10,000 acres of dryland crops are completed safely and efficiently, whilst achieving maximum production of quality sorghum, barely, oats and/or wheat needed to supply sileage and hay to our feedlots, along with wheat & sorghum for grain production.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Being hands on and leading by example, you’ll provide training, direction and supervision to a team of 3, (plus contractors and casuals as required from time to time) along with:

  • Ensuring safe & effective operation, utilisation and maintenance of farming plant/equipment

  • Accurate recording and reporting of data, information and documentation

  • Driving continuous improvement, efficiencies and best practice farming operations

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental obligations

  • Proactive monitoring of pasture conditions and seasonal trends

  • Maintaining inventory control & stores

  • Liaison & organisation of suppliers, contractors, internal and external customers

  • Maintaining a safe place of work and ensuring strict adherence WHS policy, procedures and legislation

Job Requirements:

Along with 5 years demonstrated experience in a hands-on senior farming role, you’ll be a progressive and passionate advocate for agriculture with extensive experience and knowledge across a broad range of best practice farming operations and activities in addition to:

  • Valid driver's license (C class) - unrestricted manual license (essential)

  • Planning and organisational skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong mechanical skills and ability to maintain and repair plant, equipment & machinery

  • Understanding of and ability to apply relevant industry legislation and compliance requirements (eg Work, Health & Safety, Environment/Land)

  • Physical fitness and capability to safely undertake the physical aspects

  • Basic computer literacy
