Job Description:

Bonney Downs Station is currently searching for an experienced and independent Station Manager to join their esteemed team.

  • Encompassing 1.5 million acres and 10,000 breeders.

  • Cattle management role, although pastoral background not essential

  • Partner employment opportunities available in the accommodation business.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilising an experienced contracting team for the dual round musters conducted by helicopter and a ground crew on motorbikes, you will be supported by a stable team of 10-12 permanent staff to ensure the efficient and effective running of the station. The picturesque but rough landscape dictates that the stations are open-grazed with numerous quality watering points powered by solar bores. Infrastructure is well maintained with eight large sets of new yards recently completed with another four planned and underway.

  • In a closed production system, the stations play a crucial role as breeding depots and undertake the weaner education before they are transported to the family’s farms located two hours north of Perth for finishing. This transportation is carried out using the station road trains, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process for managing and relocating the livestock.

  • There is an opportunity for partner employment in Bonney Downs’ thriving 50-bed mining accommodation program with potential plans for expansion. This element of the business has its own staff and does not require involvement from the advertised position if not desired. The accommodation facilities do provide additional resources for station staff including chefs and a commercial laundry.

  • Reporting directly to the owners, who visit the station regularly, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and upkeep of the operation and staff. This role is suited to an experienced cattle manager, and although recognised, it is not necessary to have a pastoral background.

Job Requirements:

This role will require you to be an experienced cattle and people manager who enjoys a hands-on role along with the following attributes:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a management-type role.

  • Exceptional communication, organisation, record-keeping and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills.

  • Ability to liaise and coordinate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Passion for cattle and grazing management.

  • Self-motivated and able to autonomously progress work programs.

Job Benefits:

  • As the successful candidate you will be able to negotiate a quality salary which will be complemented by utilities and station stores.

  • You will be comfortably accommodated in a two-bedroom home within the station complex which boasts an inground swimming pool, chef-prepared meals and beautiful established gardens.
