Job Description:
We are looking for a Station Cook with a proactive, positive and can-do attitude to join our team
The Station Cook plans, prepares and cooks nutritional meals for 10 x Station staff, guests in the Station kitchen.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
We require a dependable person who enjoys working as part of a hardworking team. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, be clean, tidy and self-motivated and have good time management, communication & organisational skills.
The Station Cook will maintain the cooking equipment and any facilities provided in a clean, tidy and hygienic state.
Clean and tidy the eating areas and surrounds after each meal.
Ensure that food handling legislation is complied with at all times in all situations.
Regularly defrost freezers and refrigerators.
Dispose of rubbish regularly.
MEAL PREPARATION
Provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals as required.
Provide for staff each day who takes a packed lunch.
Develop nutritional, enjoyable, and efficient menus
Prepare and maintain a clean and inviting dining area.
Provide tea and coffee making facilities.
FOOD STORES
Maintain an inventory of food stored and foods required.
Prepare the grocery list.
Maintain stock levels to ensure sufficient supplies.Pack and unpack food stores.
Ensure food is stored hygienically and in a manner that maintains peak condition.
Bag and label meat cuts for freezing after butchering.
Clean food storage areas regularly.
HYGIENE
Station cooks will maintain the kitchen, serving areas, dining room, cool room, store room and meat house in a clean, tidy and hygienic state.
Job Requirements:
This position would suit a flexible person who is happy to work individually with high hygiene standards and who wants to experience life on a working cattle station.
Some cooking experience would be an advantage.
Willingness to learn and develop competencies on the job is essential
Cert II in Kitchen Operations or equivalent preferred
