Job Description:
We have an opening for a Farm Hand to join our operations at Caigan in NSW. This role offers a great opportunity to join an exciting, industry leading Agribusiness.
Caigan and Glencoe are breeding properties for Hancock Agriculture’s 2GR pure bred Wagyu cattle. Located in the Central West of NSW, the 2GR team enjoy the best of what nature has on offer with access to the Castlereagh River at Caigan and spectacular views of the Warrumbungles, at Glencoe. There is never a dull moment working on these properties – where our aim is to produce the world’s best Wagyu beef, all with an eye to animal welfare, new technology and farm sustainability. Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Property Manager, your key duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Mustering cattle using side by sides
Attending to all facets of cattle husbandry and processing
Carrying out slashing, hay work, fencing and general property maintenance work
Undertaking general vehicle and machinery operation and basic maintenance
Assisting with land and environmental management practices
Training will also be provided
Job Requirements:
Experience in the movement, handling and processing of cattle, using calm methods
Competent operation of side by sides
Fencing, stock water, farming and general maintenance skills
Competent operation of various station machinery/equipment and carry out basic maintenance;
A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
Good understanding of animal welfare practices
Ability to accurately record information and communicate effectively in the workplace
Sound computer literacy and experience in Stockbook or similar livestock recording system would be an advantage
Hold a current Class C driver’s licence (truck licence an advantage, or be willing to obtain)
A genuine passion for agriculture.
