Job Description:
We have an opening for a Farm Hand to join our operations at Glencoe Station in NSW, approximately 1 hour north of Dubbo. This role offers a great opportunity to join an exciting, industry leading Agribusiness.
Caigan and Glencoe Stations are breeding properties for Hancock Agriculture’s 2GR pure bred Wagyu cattle. Nestled in the Central West of NSW, our team at 2GR enjoys the best of nature's offerings, with access to the Castlereagh River at Caigan and breathtaking views of the Warrumbungles at Glencoe. Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
The Farm Hand contributes to the livestock program by undertaking duties such as handling and monitoring of livestock, machinery operation and maintenance, general property maintenance and repairs, and land management. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, your key duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Attending to the movement of cattle and all facets of processing, drafting and animal husbandry
Fencing and water repairs and maintenance
Operation and basic maintenance of various farm machinery (including tractors), vehicles, tools and equipment
Carrying out property maintenance and repairs (e.g. to yards, fences, water sources, roads and quarters).
Sowing, spraying, fencing, weed control and water sources
Property record keeping as required
Adherence to safe operating procedures and the highest animal welfare standards.
Job Requirements:
Previous experience in the movement, handling and processing of cattle, using calm and controlled methods
Basic mechanical, welding and fencing knowledge
Competent operation of various farm machinery/equipment and carrying out basic servicing and maintenance
A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
Good understanding of animal welfare practices
Ability to record information and communicate effectively in the workplace
Ability to work well independently and in a small team
Hold a current Class C Drivers Licence (truck licence an advantage)
Current advanced first aid certificate
A genuine passion for the beef industry and working in a rural location
