Job Description:
We have an opening for a Livestock/Maintenance Hand to join our operations at Liveringa in WA starting in the beginning of March 2023. This role offers a great opportunity to join an exciting, industry leading Agribusiness.
Liveringa Station spans over 267,000 hectares located in the picturesque West Kimberley Region WA on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River. The property is an extensive beef cattle breeding operation running 25,000 head Brangus Cross cattle alongside a hugely successful irrigated farming operation. Liveringa mustering involves helicopters, horses and motorbikes based on low stress stock handling techniques. Located only two hours from the tourist town of Broome, Liveringa is well situated to access all that the Kimberley has to offer. Our team regularly attends training courses such as horsemanship and livestock handling in order to upskill employees. Throughout the year we attend local horse and social events in the area. Liveringa prides itself on teamwork and community, where all team members are valued and respected, and play an integral part in the successful and smooth running of the station.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Station Manager, your key duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Mixing and feeding cattle and general health of cattle
General maintenance to mixer wagon and tractor
Carrying out general station maintenance and repairs - including fencing and welding
Undertaking general vehicle and machinery operation and basic maintenance
Mustering cattle using horses and bikes
Attending to all facets of cattle husbandry and processing
Assisting with land and environmental management practices
Job Requirements:
Substantial experience in the movement, handling and processing of cattle, using calm methods with the advantage of digitalised communication, improved weaner cradles, cattle crushes and yard shading
Sound horsemanship and motorbike skills
Fencing, stock water and general maintenance skills
Trade background such as boiler making, welding or mechanics (desirable)
Competent operation of various station machinery/equipment and its basic maintenance
A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
Good understanding of animal welfare practices
Current Class C driver’s licence (truck licence desirable, or be willing to obtain)
Motorbike licence (desirable, or be willing to obtain)
A genuine passion for Agriculture
