We are currently seeking energetic Livestock Hands to join our expanding business. Working on a 10:4 permanent roster, these roles will be a part of a team to operate the feeding facility near Moora, WA. This is WA’s largest feeding facility and is designed to supply Harvest Road’s processing facility, Harvey Beef.
Koojan Downs feeding facility is located 30kms from Moora and 160kms north of Perth. Koojan Downs is part of the integrated beef supply chain for Harvest Road. This integrated beef supply chain ranges from north to southwest of Western Australia and is based on best-practice ecological planning and animal welfare management.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Livestock Supervisor this opportunity will suit a self-motivated person who is hands on and is passionate about the agriculture industry. You will have a strong work ethic and be willing to learn and contribute to the team.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
Daily pen riding on horseback.
General daily cattle handling to ensure the identification and diagnosis of illnesses.
Assisting in the receival procedure of livestock.
Induction of livestock into the feedlot, following correct induction management procedures and relevant livestock work instructions.
Unloading, loading, scanning, drafting and weighing of cattle.
All aspects of cattle and horse husbandry and welfare including handling and veterinary treatments.
Ensuring water troughs are maintained at all times.
Other duties as required.
Previous experience of working in an intensive livestock handling operation preferred.
Basic computer skills.
Good communication skills.
Current Driver's Licence (Heavy vehicle licence where applicable).
Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
Ability to ride a horse along with basic level horsemanship.
Basic level cattlemanship knowledge.
Knowledge of intensive livestock production systems.
Ability to work alone.
Available to work rostered weekends.

Permanent full-time hours with 10 days on 4 days off roster
