Job Description:

Based at our Condamine properties, this role would work collaboratively with the business owners to oversee all aspects of cattle husbandry, grazing management and forage cropping in that locality, with the assistance of other team members. From time to time, there will be the opportunity for travel to our Dulacca properties (75km away) to work together for major cattle work jobs or specific projects.


Operations at JK Cattle Company involve approximately 1300 breeders plus progeny, across 10,000 hectares at Condamine and Dulacca, including growing 300-350ha of fodder crops annually. Our core cattle business is comprised of Angus, Brangus and Wagyu seedstock herds, along with a commercial Angus/Wagyu program. Bulls are sold in our annual on-property bull sale, and as yearlings, and our commercial F1 progeny are backgrounded to a feedlot entry weight.


Central to our day-to-day management is implementing regenerative agriculture practices, including graze and rest, hydration of the landscape and a commitment to improving soil and pasture health.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

This role offers variety, across many areas of beef cattle production and fodder cropping:

  • Cattle handling, health, management, data collection and recording;

  • Grazing management (including pasture improvements – planting and weed control);

  • Fodder crop preparation and production;

  • General repairs and maintenance to plant and equipment, fences, yards,
    buildings and water infrastructure;

  • Project items such as: new water infrastructure, pasture planting, fencing, gateways and fence end assemblies;

  • Leading junior farmhands and stockpersons through task delegation, clear communication and safety in a positive and friendly manner.

Job Requirements:

Ideally, we are looking for someone with considerable experience in the above areas, with a great attitude, and a view to grow with our business over the long term.

  • Experience with cattle, horses, bikes, farm machinery, and general farming operations.

  • An understanding of, or interest in: regenerative agriculture, rotational grazing, low-stress stock handling.

  • The ability to work independently with a level of autonomy, and the ability to lead and work alongside other team members.

  • A good work ethic and a positive attitude.

  • Highly desirable: Experience with GreenStar GPS, MaiaGrazing, a high level of competency in horsemanship and cattle handling,
