Working across our Condamine and Dulacca properties, this is role is predominantly focused on cattle and horses, while also offering variety in the types of tasks each week brings. It would suit a competent, experienced horseperson, who is looking for an opportunity to regularly enjoy working with cattle, riding horses, and potentially using dogs. Most of our cattle work is done on horses, with the assistance of bikes when required.
Operations at JK Cattle Company involve approximately 1300 breeders plus progeny, across 10,000 hectares at Condamine and Dulacca, including growing 300-350ha of fodder crops annually. Our core cattle business is comprised of Angus, Brangus and Wagyu seedstock herds, along with a commercial Angus/Wagyu program. Bulls are sold in our annual on-property bull sale, and as yearlings, and our commercial F1 progeny are backgrounded to a feedlot entry weight.
Central to our day-to-day management is implementing regenerative agriculture practices, including graze and rest, hydration of the landscape and a commitment to improving soil and pasture health.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
All livestock handling and husbandry procedures, including mustering, regularly shifting mobs, branding, weaning, health treatments, and any other yard work.
Assisting with seedstock related duties, such as A.I. programs, weighing and tagging calves, recording weights and traits, freeze-branding, preparation for on-property bull sale.
Intermittent handling and care of JK horses, such as clipping, hoof trimming, health treatments, handling and/or riding of young horses (depending on experience).
Assisting with general farm tasks when required.
Experience with cattle husbandry, including mustering and yard work, and the ability to read and handle stock quietly and efficiently.
Experience with horses, and competency in handling mobs of cattle independently – predominantly on a horse (essential), and on a side-by-side or bike when required.
General farm skills including fencing, basic repairs and maintenance.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A good work ethic and a positive attitude.
Remuneration: Award rates commensurate with experience.

Own horses and working dogs by arrangement.
