Commonwealth Hill Station runs around 35,000 Merino sheep over an area of 1,500,000 acres with a full-time permanent staff of 7. The property sits about 110km west of the Stuart Highway, with the turnoff mid-way between Glendambo and Coober Pedy in the NW pastoral region of South Australia. Commonwealth Hill is well resourced, maintained and managed across both infrastructure, equipment and livestock.

Job Description:

We are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time Homestead Domestic to take control of the day-to-day management of the homestead areas.

  • Immediate start available

  • Aircon accommodation, meals, wifi provided

  • Responsible for the Homestead Compound with opportunity for stockwork

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, upkeep and tidiness of the main Homestead

  • Upkeep and maintenance of the grounds, including vegetable garden, hedges and lawn areas; feeding chooks

  • Watering of garden areas

  • Cutting up meat and placing in cool room

  • Ensuring the stores room is neat and tidy

NOTE: Given the work at the Homestead is likely to be 3-4 days per week, the other 1-2 days will be spent with the station crew carrying out stock and station work. If you are someone who enjoys variety in your work and is meticulous with an eye for detail, we are keen to hear from you!

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with sheep or livestock is not essential as we are happy to invest the time to develop the right person in these areas.
