Established in 1888, Jumbuck are a fourth-generation pastoral business with large scale sheep and cattle stations throughout Australia.

Mulgathing Station is located in the NW Pastoral region of South Australia, 120 kilometres west from the Stuart Highway in the Glendambo region. At full capacity, the station can comfortably run up to 30,000 Merino sheep in a good season.

Job Description:

We seek a full-time cook to cook for our team at Mulgathing sheep station in South Australia.

  • Comfortable and equipped kitchen

  • Accommodation with mod-cons provided

  • Full-time and ongoing position with excellent benefits

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner and smokos per working day for a crew of 6, you will also be responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene of the eating and food preparation areas along with maintaining and monitoring stock levels. 

  • Ad-hoc duties such as feeding the chooks, watering the lawn and veggie garden will also be required.

Job Requirements:

  • The position is well suited to those who are creative, enjoy forward planning and are passionate about the outback and have an appreciation for rural living.

  •  If you’ve had experience preparing meals for groups, prior experience working on a station or regional roadhouse or other similar setting, we would love to hear from you!

Job Benefits:

  • As a live-in job, single accommodation (aircon/wifi), food and utilities are provided and covered by the company. 

  • A competitive day rate is on offer along with inclusion in the Jumbuck staff bonus program and 6 weeks annual leave per year.


Previous farm or station experience will be highly regarded as will an appreciation for living and working in Outback Australia.
