Mainoru Station is family owned, located about 250km north east of Katherine on the border of Arnhem Land and about 350,000 acres. Work on the station involves bull catching, buffalo catching, running yards, coacher mustering, fencing, running lick, ect. With the season typically going from March/April until early November.

Job Description:

Mainoru Station is looking to fill a limited number of positions for the 2024 season including:

  • Station Hands

  • Station Cook

  • Mechanic

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

STATION HANDS:

  • Mustering is done with the use of bullcatchers, motorbikes and horses, cattle can be lively and some not easy to handle, would recommend having experience in the industry. 


COOK: 

  • The cook position will involve preparing meals for about 9 people

  • Order taking for groceries and stores

  • Feeding animals such as poddies, chooks and pigs and gardening


MECHANIC:

  • The mechanic position will involve the repair and maintenance of various vehicles such as bullcatchers, trucks, loader, grader ect, and operating machinery. 

  • If you have any experience with handling cattle, you will also be able to work in the stockcamp.

Job Requirements:

STATION HANDS:

  • Must be keen horseman, personal horses are welcome and all weaners educated and tailed on horseback. 

  • Cattle won’t be easy to handle with plenty of cleanskins and would recommend having experience in the industry (especially mustering and handling cattle). 

  • Skills such as basic mechanics and welding would be advantageous, if not can teach if willing to learn. 

  • Work in a team environment and be apart of a positive work culture.

  • At all times maintain the highest levels of animal welfare.

  • Be respectful towards equipment and your colleagues.

  • Drivers Licence preferred


COOK:

  • Cooking experience preferred

  • Passion for preparing meals for a hungry team

  • Drivers Licence preferred


MECHANIC:

  • Certification/ experience working on various vehicles such as bullcatchers, trucks, loader, grader ect, and operating machinery is ESSENTIAL.

  • Clean and organised - tidy habits, taking pride in your workshop and work done on machinery.
