Job Description:

  • We are looking for an Overseer who will work closely with the Station Manager, in the execution of the annual property plan.

  • Wilgena Station is a 5000sqkm sheep station located 400km Northwest of Port Augusta operating a self-replacing merino enterprise, shearing approx. 25,000 sheep.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Water and bore maintenance with solar pumps.

  • Managing livestock and all aspects of animal husbandry. 

  • Station maintenance including infrastructure, plant and equipment (yards, water points, fencing, bore maintenance, farm vehicles). 

  • Managing teams, including station employees and contractors.

  • Planning and coordinating tasks such as mustering and yard operations.

  • Utilising various work-based apps and platforms including Agriwebb. 

Job Requirements:

What we’re looking for:

  • A current overseer, or a Senior Station Hand, with at least 3 years’ experience, looking for their next step into a leadership role. 

  • Experience working in pastoral country with a sound understanding of water and bore maintenance with solar pumps.

  • Sound knowledge and experience in livestock and all aspects of animal husbandry. 

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in station maintenance including infrastructure, plant and equipment (yards, water points, fencing, bore maintenance, farm vehicles). 

  • Experience managing teams, including station employees and contractors.

  • Ability to plan and coordinate tasks such as mustering and yard operations.

  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to lead the team in the managers absence.

  • The ability to utilise various work-based apps and platforms including Agriwebb. 

  • Current car and motorbike license is essential.
