Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Leading Hand for our Movements Team at Grassdale, which employs 110 team members and is licensed for 70,000 SCUs, making it the largest feedlot in Australia.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure all operations are performed safely and in accordance with Mort & Co Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that the health and welfare of livestock is given priority and ensure livestock are handled in accordance with low stress livestock handling principles.
Organise daily work activities and resources for the Livestock team
Communicate instructions to the Livestock team and assist the team in achieving desired outcomes.
Supervise activities of the livestock team
Implement and enforce recommendations from veterinary and nutritional consultants
Identify performance issues and take corrective action as necessary
Assist in identifying staff training needs
Assist in staff roster formulation and implementation
Ensure facilities are kept clean and tidy
Maintain records as required by Administration in line with company policy ensuring data input is accurate
Job Requirements:
Advanced livestock logistics, welfare and handling skills.
High computer, numerical & literacy skills is required.
Excellent communication skills
Superior organisational skills
Accurate record keeping and data processing skills
