Job Description:

We are seeking a Property Manager for our breeding property, Scheelite on King Island (Tasmania) where we run a 1,300 Angus breeder herd on 2,800 hectares.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the general management team of our feedlot, Whyalla Beef, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and execution of key animal husbandry tasks

  • Leading and managing staff and contractors

  • Supporting the development and implementation of a breeding program

  • Management of sustainable grazing operations throughout the aggregation

  • Developing a culture of health and safety and leading by example

  • Being responsible for the care, maintenance and profitable use of plant and equipment

  • Provide financial and cattle turnoff budgets and inventory reports

Job Requirements:

Skills and experience required are:

  • Machinery maintenance and operating skills

  • Cattle management experience including an understanding of nutrition and genetics

  • Strong communication skills

  • Hands on experience in livestock management, operations and business management

  • Confidence to manage your own time and work unsupervised

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • A strong work ethic

  • Current drivers’ licence, HR licence desirable but not essential

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships

  • Desire and passion to continue to learn and push into new areas
