Job Description:

  • The Sale Manager is responsible for managing current contracts, maintaining relationships within the industry, and supporting future opportunities that may arise within the industry.

  • This involves having a solid understanding of livestock and saleyard procedures, understanding software features and functionality, having a strong ability to problem solve, having skills in communicating effectively with the team, and being able to implement WHS policies and procedures.

  • The Sale Manager will be based at Roma, QLD, however, may be required to travel to other saleyards throughout QLD, as well as occasional interstate trips to assist NSW or Victoria teams and to further operational knowledge.

  • The Sale Manager will have opportunities for career progression within Outcross Agri-Services, and will be looked upon to take on increased responsibility as opportunities emerge.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage Sales

  • Possess the ability to organise and manage staff to complete required tasks

  • Communicate effectively with members of the team to ensure all members have a sound understanding of tasks to be completed.

  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure the required tasks are completed

  • Ability to problem solve discrepancies

  • Reporting results and feedback to senior staff


Administration

  • Accurate recording and reporting of information including; sale day data entry, spell cattle movements, payroll information and general tasks.

  • Working with State Manager to create a staff roster that helps manage fatigue


Client Satisfaction

  • Capable to work as part of a team to complete jobs to a high standard

  • Possess skills to train and improve productivity among team members

  • Maintain a high level of morale among team members

  • Have the leadership skills to manage multiple teams

  • Capable of planning and logistics, and communicating plans to staff

  • Demonstrate the ability to grow into more responsibility if/when necessary


Support Business Operations

  • Be available to travel to regions outside main employment to gain understanding of business operations. This may include participation in assisting at sales in other states or representation at industry events.


Livestock Handling

  • Strong capabilities in Livestock Handling, including counting stock, identifying animal welfare issues, low stress handling techniques.

  • Ability to learn skills and to train staff


Job Requirements:

  • Qualification in Agriculture or a Business-related area

  • Prior exposure to livestock or the agricultural industry is highly desirable

  • Good communication and relationship-building skills

  • Knowledge of saleyards and their related processes

  • Willingness to learn processes and understand procedures

  • Understanding of how technology is used in a livestock environment

  • Organised and proficient in time-management

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Motivated to learn and expand on skills.
