Job Description:
The Stock Handler is responsible for assisting in completing current contracts that exist, maintaining relationships within the industry, and supporting the State Manager.
This involves having a solid understanding of livestock and Saleyard procedures, WHS policies and procedures, understanding software features and functionality, having a strong ability to problem solve, and skills in communicating effectively within the team.
The Stock Handler may be required to travel to saleyards each week throughout QLD, as well as occasional interstate trips to assist teams in NSW.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Livestock Handling
Possess a high skill level in livestock handling, including tasks such and animal movement, ear tagging, NLIS scanning, and drafting of cattle.
Ability to accurately determine temperament of cattle to ensure work is conducted in a safe manner.
Communicate effectively with members of the team.
Ability to problem solve discrepancies.
Reporting issues and feedback to senior staff.
WHS Compliance
Support the State Manager in ensuring compliance with company WHS management systems. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures and that the safety of workers is maintained.
Teamwork
Capable to work as part of a team to complete jobs to a high standard.
Possess skills to train and improve productivity among team members.
Client Satisfaction
Be presentable (clean and tidy) at all times when representing Outcross.
Ensure interactions with clients, including saleyard management and stock agents, are professional and courteous.
Suggest or implement work procedures, systems and processes that provide improvements in the customer experience.
Support Business Operations
Be available to travel to regions outside main employment to gain understanding of business operations. This may include participation in assisting at sales in other states or representation at industry events.
Industry Relationships
Build relationships within the team and externally with clients and third parties.
Maintain and improve business relationships.
Job Requirements:
High range of livestock handling skills
Prior exposure to livestock or the agricultural industry is highly desirable
Understanding of WHS requirements
Good communication and relationship-building skills
Knowledge of saleyards and their related processes
Willingness to learn processes and understand procedures
Understanding of how technology is used in a livestock environment
Organised and proficient in time-management
Strong problem solving skills
