Job Description:

  • We are seeking a dedicated Seedstock Manager to lead the next chapter of our Ultrablack program.

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled livestock professional with a strong background in stud operations - preferably with black cattle - and a passion for pasture management, breeding and team leadership.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

The Seedstock Manager is responsible for leading and optimising livestock operations to ensure the ongoing success of Palgrove’s Ultrablack seedstock program. This role focuses on three key areas:

1.    Genetics and Breeding – Oversee and manage breeding programs, including AI, ET, and natural joining, to enhance genetics, maximise productivity and maintain Palgrove’s reputation for being a leader in the Ultrablack breed.

2.    Livestock Operations – Manage all aspects of livestock handling and quality control, including drafting, culling, branding, weaning and animal health treatments, to optimise performance and ensure the production of high-quality seedstock.

3.    Team Development – Mentor, train, and develop Seedstock team members to build strong seedstock knowledge and technical capabilities, fostering a high-performing and knowledgeable workforce.


The Seedstock Manager plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, genetic progress and sustainable land management while developing a skilled and engaged team. This role is based in Inverell, NSW.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in stud cattle operations, ideally with black genetics (Ultrablack, Brangus, Angus or similar)

  • Strong understanding of pasture management, breeding programs, and animal health

  • Confident and supportive leader with a passion for mentoring others

  • High level of initiative and an eye for continuous improvement

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
