Job Description:
We have an opening for a Station Cook to join our operations at Durrie station in 2023.
Durrie Station spans 6,600 km2 and is situated on the banks of the Diamantina River in the Channel Country of south west Queensland. Durrie operates primarily as a growing out depot for cattle from the company’s Northern properties. We have a crew of around seven plus the managers and family which cultivates a real family environment where everybody is included in the running of the station. Team members attend numerous social events throughout the year including the famous Birdsville Cup, although for many the highlight is the famous Betoota Pub with its annual gymkhana, cricket and race days. There is a large permanent waterhole close to the homestead providing for fishing and swimming in the afternoon and days off.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Station Manager, the Station Cook is responsible for planning, preparing and cooking nutritious meals for station team members, guests and contractors in the station kitchen.
Duties include:
Preparing tasty, nutritious, home-style meals four times a day for around 10 team members (breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dinner)
Menu and food stores planning
Cleaning the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas
Job Requirements:
Sound cooking experience and a passion for producing quality, wholesome food
An understanding of dietary nutrition and food hygiene practices
High level of organisation skills and ability to communicate clearly
Ability to work in a safe manner
