Job Description:

  • Teys Australia has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Livestock Buyer to join the Livestock team covering the Central Queensland operations. 

  • This role will be primarily responsible for the purchasing of appropriate livestock for processing or feeding within the designated/appointed area. 

  • You will be a part of a collaborative and experienced Livestock team who are passionate and dedicated to sourcing the highest quality cattle across our sites.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Purchase necessary livestock for processing at the designated sites via both over the hooks and sale yard methods.

  • Liaise with the Livestock Manager and General Manager Livestock regarding appropriate sourcing of cattle, including trend activity and forecasting of supply availability.

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with producers, agents, and the general community in the designated region.

  • Prepare and maintain appropriate and accurate records.

Job Requirements:

It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in cattle buying for export beef processing

  • Current driver’s license

  • Knowledge of and a solid reputation within the cattle producer community

  • Customer-first mindset.


Desirable:

  • Sound computer literacy skills

  • Direct sale yard exposure.
