Job Description:
Teys Australia has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Livestock Buyer to join the Livestock team covering the Central Queensland operations.
This role will be primarily responsible for the purchasing of appropriate livestock for processing or feeding within the designated/appointed area.
You will be a part of a collaborative and experienced Livestock team who are passionate and dedicated to sourcing the highest quality cattle across our sites.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Purchase necessary livestock for processing at the designated sites via both over the hooks and sale yard methods.
Liaise with the Livestock Manager and General Manager Livestock regarding appropriate sourcing of cattle, including trend activity and forecasting of supply availability.
Establish and maintain productive relationships with producers, agents, and the general community in the designated region.
Prepare and maintain appropriate and accurate records.
Job Requirements:
It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:
At least five (5) years of experience in cattle buying for export beef processing
Current driver’s license
Knowledge of and a solid reputation within the cattle producer community
Customer-first mindset.
Desirable:
Sound computer literacy skills
Direct sale yard exposure.
