Job Description:

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and capable manager to operate and manage a recently purchased cattle property, 50km South of Thargomindah. 


The property will be managed alongside another existing owned property nearby, in an expanding family owned business operating cattle grazing properties between Hungerford and Thargomindah in South West Qld for the past 25 years. 


Although the role involves the property being managed independently, coordination of projects and activities between the two businesses would be a part of the operational planning. 

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the property owners, your key duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Monitoring and upkeep of bores and watering points

  • Mustering, handling & monitoring of cattle

  • Use & maintenance of motorbikes for mustering

  • Use and maintenance of vehicles and machinery

  • General maintenance & repairs (fencing & welding)

  • Helping with station infrastructure development (fencing, poly lines)

  • Financial administration, including managing of ordering, purchases, and invoice processing.

  • Recordkeeping of livestock numbers, movements, rainfall etc. to be recorded, and reported to owners as required.

Job Requirements:

The successful applicant must:

  • Have experience in the cattle industry, with exceptional cattle handling skills, preferably low stress stock handling training.

  • Have the experience and initiative to manage the day to day running of the property, as well as participating in the strategic planning of operations and development.

  • Undertake projects on the property

  • Have the ability to carry out property infrastructure maintenance

  • Be familiar with the operation and maintenance of bores and watering systems.

  • Enthusiastic, motivated, positive attitude to the job

  • The ability to work independently

  • Comply with company OHS policies

  • Training in low stress stock handling an advantage

  • Truck and firearms license would be a requirement to fulfill, if not licensed already.
