Part of the Hughes Pastoral Group, Georgina Pastoral Company is a family-owned Wagyu beef cattle enterprise running over 100,000 head of cattle across four stations in the Northern Territory and Queensland.

 

Georgina Pastoral Company is always looking to recruit new employees who are keen about the land, livestock and open to learning new skills.

 

Lake Nash is a large scale outback cattle station on the banks of the Georgina River in the NT.  Beautiful location, only three hours to Mt Isa, access to local nurse clinic, variety of opportunities. 

The station has approximately 30 staff, with ages varying from 18-60 years of age and a Social Club on the station where we all catch up for drinks and a BBQ every Saturday. We also attend local shows, races, campdrafts and rodeos which you would be welcome to attend with us as part of our team!

ASSISTANT MANAGER

  • Ability to lead and manage staff

  • Prefer MC and helicopter licences, but not essential for right candidate

  • Must have a solid work ethic and the ability to run operations on a day-to-day level in keeping with the cattle work and infrastructure development program

  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet 

  • Extensive experience with mentoring and training staff and a commitment to Workplace Health and Safety

  • Trustworthy and hardworking individual that can work closely with the Manager to undertake and complete seasonal cattle work and long-term infrastructure development

 

 

 

 

HEAD STOCK PERSON

  • Prior experience on a large-scale cattle station with the ability to carry out the mustering program as well as all associated duties (mustering, processing, trucking, walking away)

  • Experienced horseperson with the ability to maintain the welfare of all camp horses

  • Effective people management with the ability to manage, mentor and train staff, with good leadership skills

  • Awareness of and responsibility for OH&S requirements

  • Quiet cattle handling and ability to prioritise cattle welfare

  • Attention to detail, as well as being neat, tidy and organised (with the ability to ensure maintenance of all stock camp gear and stocktake of cattle husbandry consumables)

  • Good record keeping with the ability to complete appropriate reporting

  • Honest and reliable

  • Take pride in your work and contribution to the station

STATION HANDS

  • Permanent full time station hands | Season 2022

  • Advantageous to be confident on horse and two wheel bike, capable in all aspects of cattle handling, mustering, yard work, etc.

  • Right attitude, willingness to learn

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Honest and hard working

MECHANIC

  • Knowledge in and repair of all types of equipment

    • LandCruisers

    • Motorcycles

    • Earthmoving Machinery – Skid Steer, Grader, Loader, Tele-handler, Excavators

    • Prime Movers – Volvo, Kenworth

    • Small Engine repair – Kubota Engines

  • General station/homestead maintenance

  • Ability to use MIG Welder, operate machinery mentioned above

  • Understanding of and appreciation for remote working

BORE RUNNER

  • Responsible for the maintenance of stock watering points, so an understanding of stock watering and stock watering systems an advantage (solar installations, small diesel engines, helical rotor pumps, turkey nests, troughs, tanks etc.)

  • Basic mechanical knowledge, small engines and also vehicle servicing

  • Fencing repairs

  • In this position you will be required to work alone

  • You must be reliable, honest and self motivated. As well as neat and tidy, organised and punctual.

BORE MECHANIC

  • Mechanical or electrical trade experience background to carry out bore maintenance and development.  

  • Working with solar submersible, mono helical rotor in conjunction with small diesel engines.

  • Involves repair and maintenance of existing bore equipment and installation of new equipment.

  • Position would assist in vehicle maintenance and other station duties as required.
