We are seeking to employ an Overseer at Telopea Downs, our company's flagship property. At over 47,000ha, Telopea Downs straddles the SA/VIC border and operates enterprises including sheep, beef and cropping.

 

As an aggregation of 10 properties, the Overseer at Telopea Downs, while reporting to the Station Manager and Assistant Manager - Livestock, is responsible for managing their own section of the property and supervising a small team.

 

This unique opportunity is perfect for a current overseer who is looking for more autonomy in which to build their career, or a senior station hand with at least 3 years' experience, who is looking for their first step into frontline management.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Support the manager and Assistant Manager - livestock in the day-to-day operations the property

  • Supervision of stock health management.

  • Assisting in the allocation and monitoring of staff workloads in line with operational requirements and timeframes.

  • Assist with induction and training for new staff.

  • General maintenance around the  property.

 

Required skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent attention to detail including reporting and data collection.

  • Proven time management and organisation skills.

  • Proven professional standards of work and behaviour.

  • Able to motivate staff and act as a role model.

  • Commitment to a safe work environment and safe working practices on the job

  • Have at least one trained and effective working dog.

  • Experience in riding and working on 2-wheeled motorbikes.

  • Holders of a motorbike licence is preferred or the willingness to obtain one. 

 

BENEFITS: This is a full-time, permanent position. Fully expensed accommodation including all utilities is provided, suiting a single or couple. In addition we offer a market competitive salary, 20 days holidays, 17.5% annual leave loading, 10% superannuation, working dog allowance as wells as annual vaccinations and registrations for up to 2 dogs and training and development opportunities.
