Princess Royal Station has been an iconic part of the Mid North landscape in South Australia since the 1850s. It is a family owned and operated agricultural business with a focus on quality and consistency.

 

Operations include high-quality grain and grass-finished beef, large-scale cereal grain production, livestock trading, cattle breeding program, lamb production and freight.

Princess Royal are currently seeking to fill the following positions:​

ANIMAL HEALTH ASSISTANTS | There are several newly created opportunities opening with the expansion of the Princess Royal Feedlot facility 10km from Burra for Livestock Assistants specialising in animal health. These roles require team players who are reliable, self-motivated and enjoy working outdoors with cattle.

Expected duties will include:

 

  • Diagnosis of animal health symptoms with an emphasis on animal welfare,

  • Administration of animal health treatments

  • Maintaining accurate records of animal treatments and stock movements

  • Daily livestock handling duties

  • Maintaining compliance with Princess Royal’s policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental obligations

  • Acclimating and exercising cattle

  • General yard duties, including cleaning

 

NOTE: Both cattle handling experience and a current Drivers Licence are essential. The ability to ride a quad bike is highly desirable. Any other licences or tickets are advantageous.

LIVESTOCK ASSISTANT | There are opportunities at Princess Royal Feedlot, 10km from Burra, for Livestock Assistants. These roles require team players who are reliable, self-motivated and enjoy working outdoors with cattle. 

Expected duties will include:

  • Cattle handling & movement

  • Induction of cattle,

  • Weighing and drafting cattle

  • Operation of the indicator

  • Basic data entry

  • General cleaning and maintenance


NOTE: Both cattle handling experience and a current Drivers Licence are essential. The ability to ride a quad bike is highly desirable. Any other licences or tickets are advantageous.

FEEDER & MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTS |  We are currently looking for flexible, mechanically minded team players to join our expanding Princess Royal feedlot division. 

 

Job Description: Main duties include; feed preparation, cattle feeding duties, and pen maintenance. 

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Operation of tractor/feed mixer wagon 

  • Pen maintenance with heavy machinery 

  • Operation of Loader, handling of commodities 

  • General feedlot maintenance

  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks 

  • Follow WH&S policies & procedures 

  • Ensure Animal Welfare standards are upheld 

  • Basic computer skills 

  • Motivated to work alone and part of a diverse team

  • Heavy machinery operations experience 

  • Previous experience in tractor and loader operation 

  • Skidsteer/Telehandler tickets (Desirable) 

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence (HR licence or higher preferred)

  • Agricultural experience (Desirable)

MACHINERY OPERATORS | We are currently looking for flexible, mechanically minded team players to join the team that will be working on our Princess Royal feedlot expansion near Burra, SA. These positions will be fixed term casual opportunities with the option for ongoing work for the right candidates, 

Job Description: Main duties include; earthmoving, concrete batching, water running. 

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Operation of heavy machinery, including tractor, loader, skidsteer, telehandler, grader, roller etc. 

  • Concreting batching 

  • Concrete truck operations 

  • Water truck operations

CATTLE YARDS SUPERVISOR | An opening for a staff & livestock supervisor at Princess Royal Station at the cattle transit yards in Burra, 160km north of Adelaide. The role requires an experienced, reliable, self-motivated individual who can lead a team and organising daily tasks. 

  • Duties include management of daily tasks, team supervision and coordination, cattle induction, pen riding, mustering, and shifting, animal health and welfare. 

  • The successful applicant will have prior management or supervisory experience, cattle handling experience and preferable have basic computer skills. 

  • All applicants must have their car and motorbike licence, enjoy working outdoors and with animals.
