OPERATIONS OFFICER ROLE

BASED IN NEWMAN, PILBARA, WA

Fortescue Helicopters are a leading provider of aerial mustering and helicopter charter services and are locally owned and operated from the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. We strive to assist our clients in increasing their profitability and sustainability by providing safe, efficient, and professional helicopter services tailored to their requirements. We have a fleet of 14 + aircraft operating throughout WA and interstate, and our main base is at Newman Airport Western Australia. 

The position we are advertising is for an Operations Officer / PA / General Hand.

It involves also working for our fellow entity Fortescue Cattle Company which will provide the applicant a unique mix of hands-on type and administration work in several key areas of our business. There is scope for career progression and personal development to be tailored to the applicant’s interest preferred career direction. 

What you would be doing within the role: 

  • Delegated management responsibilities of internal records, compliance documents and parts control. 

  • Managing relationships with some suppliers to Fortescue Helicopters Ensuring the hangar and aircraft are maintained in an organised and professional manner 

  • Some personal assistant duties to the Chief Pilot and Station manager 

  • Assisting the Chief Pilot and Station Manager with operations management Ensuring efficient and smooth operations of the business aspects that are directly responsible for 

  • Hands on work including assisting helicopter engineers, station duties, general cleaning and organising of equipment and vehicles. 

 

It is essential for the successful applicant to have: 

  • A genuine passion for the Agricultural Industry and/or working in regional Australia and an interest in aviation. 

  • Discipline and motivation to work autonomously and remotely as required and uphold standards and expectations set by the business. 

  • Excellent personal presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively. 

  • Strong relationship building and problem-solving skills, including written and verbal communication. 

  • An average understanding of computers in particular MS Office, and willingness to adapt to new computer programs and apps. 

  • Current Drivers Licence 

  • Pre employment Medical and Police clearance check 

  • Flexibility to work variable hours including early and late starts and weekends when required. 

 

It will be viewed favourably for you to have any of the following: 

  • Background in aviation or compliance management 

  • Background in working in agriculture especially Northern Australia working on large scale cattle operations. 

  • Formal agricultural or aviation management qualifications or desire to obtain them. 

  • Pilot license (aeroplane or helicopter) this is not a flying role, but some flying could be included for the right applicant. 

  • Truck license

Remuneration: 

  • Renumeration based on prior experience and qualification with reviews at 1, 6 and 12 months to ensure suitability for both parties. 

  • Performance based initiatives for suitable candidate. 

  • Scope to include company paying for future personal development including but not limited to pilot license.
