Buchanan Downs cattle station 340 km south of Katherine in the NT require an LSS Trained Cattle Worker initially for 4 weeks work, with an opportunity to continue working if position suits.

Start Date: Immediately (4 weeks, then long term option if suits)


Remuneration: $400/day depending on experience 

Job Description: The majority of the work is in the yards with cattle. Duties are done in the morning, then a few hours off in the middle of day when hot then work again in the cool of the afternoon. 

  • Working cattle in yard is main duty - work with two others in yards.

  • Putting out lick with light truck

  • Cleaning troughs, checking waters

  • Assisting with usual station duties (doing a killer, fixing a fence, laying a new bit of poly, putting in new trough, changing oil air fuel filters)


  • Working cattle in yards experience

  • Low Stress Stock Handling (LSS) training and competence required

  • Drivers licence preferred/ operate manual vehicle/ light truck

  • Must be used to NT heat at this time of year


  • No horses or dogs required

  • Air conditioned accommodation and all meals provided (Max 4 cans per night but unlimited icecream!)

  • No camping out.

  • Work to conditions - Kick back for a few hours/ day off if there is a storm.
