ABOUT US/ LOCATION: We are a family owned & operated enterprise currently looking for a station couple for our Pilbara based Cattle Station in WA, Emu Creek Station. Emu Creek is situated about halfway between Carnarvon & Karratha WA, on the Yannarie River with the homestead alongside a semi-permanent river pool ~22km from the Great Northern Hwy.


We are mainly focused on the production of beef cattle for both Export and Domestic sale, however, we also have a tourism aspect with a campground alongside the river down from the homestead. The camp ground is comprised of ~12-15 camp sites (can have a lot more than that though).


The camp sites are unpowered, and guests need to be self-sufficient in all aspects, however an ablution block with 2 toilets & 2 showers are provided for guest use.


JOB DESCRIPTION: The role and main responsibilities of the positions include: 

  • Monitoring and maintenance of station infrastructure (windmills, solar pump bores, yards, fences etc), livestock (cattle) and general station equipment (gensets, homestead infrastructure, gardens, machinery, vehicles etc)

  • Basic administrative activities associated with the above point. Includes: 

  1. Collation of invoices/paperwork and forwarding of these to accounts manager on a monthly basis

  2. Completion of weekly reports summarising activities/actions each day, weather events, proposals, future tasks, items to be ordered, camper numbers/activities and grievances/issues.

  3. Handling of phone calls, email messages and other communicative methods associated with business management.

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness/neatness of the homestead, gardens and surrounding sheds etc.

  • Provision of meals & accommodation to other Red Country Investments Trust employees, contractors or guests as and when required (eg mustering/drilling program/carbon farming project and sometimes field days etc). 

  • Daily Weather Observations: record and send daily weather observations to BOM (9am every day). Collate & maintain records and forwarding of hard copy data/invoices on a monthly basis. 

  • Handling the tourism aspect of Emu Creek Station including:

  1. Customer service and care.

  2. Maintenance of camping sites and associated infrastructure.

  3. Administrative duties associated with managing a tourism attraction.

REMUNERATION/ BENEFITS: The employment contract would be for a 12-month period, but long-term employment opportunities are potentially available in the future. The total salary package will be based on experience, but will start at $75,000/annum plus Super for the two positions. One position is as an ‘Overseer’ which is full time. The second position is an ‘Administration, Guest Relations’ and is on a part-time basis.

Other features of the package include: 

  • All accommodation, furnishings (modest, but functional), electricity and water are provided.

  • Fuel for work use only is provided.

  • Station vehicles, motorbikes and machinery are provided and a registered ute is also available for work-related trips off the property.

  • A weekly mail-run that brings the mail and any stores ordered from Carnarvon. Freight for stores is covered but capped at $120/month

  • Landline telephone facilities and satellite Broadband Internet is provided (capped monthly data allowances apply).

  • Initially stores, fuel for personal use and other personal costs are not included in the package. However, based on proven performance and commitment, other benefits can be negotiated.
