The Victoria River Research Station, located at Kidman Springs south of Darwin, provides facilities to conduct agricultural research and extension; the positions ensure the farm is research ready and animal welfare and Work Health and Safety requirements are met.

We are seeking applicants for the following 2 full time positions:

1. FARM MANAGER Duration: fixed for 3 years | Immediate Start

The Farm Manager Victoria River Research Station is responsible for management of staff and operations Victoria River Research Station, providing a high level of agricultural technical expertise.

 

  • Responsible for the Research Station achieving research project milestones, station maintenance and development outcomes.

  • Coordinate all station activities and direct and supervise staff in station operations.

  • Manage the Research Station expenditure within budget allocation and oversee maintenance of technical and administrative records at the station.

  • Develop and implement WHS initiatives which positively encourage the workplace safety culture. 

  • In conjunction with research and other regional staff, plan and implement the long term development of resources and facilities of the station.

  • Assist with extension and producer training activities such as Field Days, Open Days and Workshops.

2. ASSISTANT FARM MANAGER Duration: fixed for 3 years | Immediate Start


Assist the Farm Manager in the operation of Victoria River Research Station and provide a high level of technical expertise in pastoral station operations.
 

  • Assist the Farm Manager to coordinate and manage station operations, and to supervise and direct station staff. 

  • Undertake day-to-day work of the Research Station, including livestock and rangeland management and operating and maintaining machinery and equipment.

  • Assist the Farm Manager in the safe and efficient operation of the Victoria River Research Station, including the development and implementation of WHS initiatives which positively encourage the workplace safety culture.   

  • Assist in the implementation of long term development plans of the Research Station.

  • Assist the Farm Manager to facilitate research and extension programs, and be involved in extension activities such as field days and demonstrations.

  • Undertake accurate data collecting and recording activities and in maintain station records.
