Job Description:

Are you passionate about agriculture and eager to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to livestock breeding and property management? Rockybank Station and Holyrood, nestled in the heart of South Central Queensland, are seeking a dedicated and skilled Station Hand to join our team.
 

About the Property
Rockybank Station is proud to be the home of the Kidman Santa Gertrudis and Composite bull-breeding herd. Our operations span across QLD, NSW, NT, and WA, supplying high-quality breeding bulls to our large-scale breeder herds. Holyrood is part of the QLD purebred Wagyu herd aggregation of properties, specialising in breeding bulls for northern breeder herds, steers, and heifers for our southern cattle operations. Holyrood is run collaboratively with Rockybank, sharing herd and property management responsibilities.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • As the Technical Assistant/Station Hand, you will play a crucial role in maintaining data integrity and accurate records of our breeding programs. 

  • This diverse role offers a unique combination of data management and hands-on station work.  

  • The role will give you opportunity to be both in the paddock, cattle yards, and the office, with a principal focus on the data recording and administration side of the business. However the role has opportunity to be involved in the technical advancements of the husbandry, care, technical and research objectives delivery as well as exposure with property development priorities in line with our cattle breeding and production programs, real-world technology application and agronomic function of the station operations and Hancock Agriculture.  

Job Requirements:

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, be interested to understand why and how we can do it better

  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience in data capture and livestock recording systems e.g. Stockbook, Stockmate

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office™ applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

  • Ability to work in a team environment, both in the field and in administration

  • Sound horse riding or motorbike skills and ability to handle cattle

  • Current driver’s licence

  • A positive attitude to team work, continual learning, accuracy and working together as we continue to grow and improve the quality of our cattle as part of Hancock Agriculture.
