We are looking for a Feed & Performance Supervisor to join our growing team at our Wainui Feedlot | Permanent full-time position

 

At NAPCo, we employ over 200 people across a portfolio of 13 stations located across Queensland and the Northern Territory, an award-winning Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and a Corporate Office located in Brisbane CBD.

 

The Wainui Feedlot has an 18,000 head capacity, feed rations are mixed on-site using grain processed through our state-of-the-art feed mill. A 4,600 hectare dry-land and irrigated farming enterprise also operates on the property. Located between Dalby and Toowoomba, the Wainui Feedlot has a reputation for staff retention, tidiness and operational excellence.

About the role: Reporting to the Feedlot Operations Manager, you will be joining our growing Wainui team as a Feed & Performance Supervisor. This role will support the daily feedlot operations in a variety of tasks relating to daily feed allocations promoting a high standard of animal nutrition, health and welfare.

 

You may find yourself in the office, out in the mill, operating machinery, driving the feed truck or reviewing performance data.

 

Key responsibilities will span:

  • Supervision and Coordination of the Feed team working closely with the Livestock manger and the Mill supervisor

  • Monitoring feed intakes and daily allocation of feed, analysing the information to make informed nutritional decisions

  • Coordination and preparation of commodities including, stocktake, logistics, purchasing & Scheduling

  • Research development projects

  • Operating machinery, feed batching & delivery, mill operations & general feedlot maintenance

 

Key to successfully delivering in this position, is an understanding of feedlot operations but most importantly possess an honest and hardworking attitude and leadership skills. As this role is varied in scope you may not have all the experience and qualifications at the time of application, NAPCo will provide training, so personality and willingness to learn are key traits to be successful in this position.

  • Business acumen with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to foster and maintain sound working relationships with key stakeholders at multiple levels

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to change priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal

  • Prior feed allocation and feed milling experience, desirable but not essential

  • Knowledge of livestock behaviour and habits, desirable but not essential

  • Feed truck and loader operation experience, desirable but not essential

  • Boiler Operations Qualification, desirable but not essential

Pre-employment requirements - Prior to commencement, all new employees are required to undertake an Australian National Police Check and are also required to be vaccinated against Q Fever (all associated costs covered by NAPCo).
